Dispute with taxi driver: Route choice

🇩🇪 [Entschuldigung] is the normal polite opener with a stranger like a taxi driver. It softens a complaint much better than jumping straight into the question.

💬 With formal [Sie], the verb uses the same form as [sie] = they: [fahren Sie], not [fährst Sie]. Same pattern: [Kommen Sie?], [Haben Sie...?].

🇩🇪 This is the standard polite form for speaking to a taxi driver. Using [du] first would usually sound too familiar unless the driver clearly does it first.

💬 In a yes/no question or a direct question word sentence, the verb comes before the subject: [Warum fahren Sie ...?]. Compare [Sie fahren diese Route.] vs [Warum fahren Sie diese Route?].

🇩🇪 This is direct but still acceptable if you keep your tone calm. Adding [Entschuldigung] first makes it sound less confrontational.

💬 German often uses [fahren] where English would say "take" for a route or road. The same verb works with streets too: [Wir fahren über die Autobahn].
