Dispute with taxi driver (Advanced): Fare disputes

💬 Here conta means "counts, is what matters", not "tells". Use it to say what applies: conta il prezzo "the price is what counts".

💬 lo stands for "it/that" and goes before the verb. Italian needs it where English often drops it: non lo so "I don't know".

💬 ne means "of it/about it". sicuro goes with di, and ne replaces that di + the thing you're sure about.

🇮🇹 Using the polite form keeps a question about the fare respectful, so you're checking rather than accusing. It's the calm way to start a dispute.

💬 in fondo means "at the end/bottom". It's handy for directions: in fondo alla strada "at the end of the street".

💬 Italian says "you have reason": avere ragione "to be right". The same pattern gives avere torto "to be wrong".
