Lesson Roleplay

Imagine you're at a restaurant in Italy. You want to book a private room for your wife's birthday dinner with a group of eighteen people.

Buonasera, scusi, avrei bisogno di un'informazione per una cena di gruppo. Avete per caso una sala privata?

Good evening, excuse me, I'd need some information about a group dinner. Do you happen to have a private room?

Buonasera! Sì, abbiamo una saletta riservata al piano di sopra. Per quante persone sarebbe, e per quando?

Good evening! Yes, we have a small private room upstairs. How many people would it be for, and when?

Saremmo in diciotto, sabato 12 ottobre. È per il compleanno di mia moglie.

There would be eighteen of us, on Saturday, October 12th. It's for my wife's birthday.

Mi dispiace, la saletta tiene al massimo quattordici persone. Però potremmo riservarvi la veranda, che è separata dalla sala principale.

I'm sorry, the small room holds fourteen people at most. But we could reserve the veranda for you, which is separate from the main dining room.

Ah, capisco. E la veranda è abbastanza tranquilla? Ci terremmo a poter chiacchierare senza troppo rumore.

Ah, I see. And is the veranda quiet enough? We'd really like to be able to chat without too much noise.
