💬 [Gostaria] is a softer, more polite way to say you want something than a direct [quero]. You can reuse it with many things: [Gostaria de água] or [Gostaria de pagar].

💬 In Portugal, [Eu] is often dropped when it's already clear from the verb, so [Gostaria] on its own often means the same as [Eu gostaria]. That makes requests sound natural and less heavy.

💬 The final [é] is stressed, so [café] is said with a clear ending: (ka-FEH), not like English "cafe". This stress pattern is common in words written with [é].

🇵🇹 In cafés, [se faz favor] is also very common in Portugal and can sound more local than [por favor]. Both are polite and normal.
