Lesson Roleplay
Imagine you're getting into a taxi in Madrid. You want to go to an address in the city and ask the driver to take the shorter route.
Buenas tardes. ¿Me lleva a la calle de Alcalá, 120, por favor?
Good afternoon. Could you take me to 120 Calle de Alcalá, please?
Buenas tardes, suba. Iré por la M-30, que el centro a estas horas está imposible.
Good afternoon, hop in. I'll take the M-30, because the city centre is impossible at this time of day.
Perdone, pero ¿no sería más corto por Gran Vía? Normalmente me sale por unos diez euros.
Excuse me, but wouldn't it be shorter along Gran Vía? It usually costs me about ten euros.
Más corto sí, pero hay obras en Cibeles y se tarda el doble.
Shorter, yes, but there are roadworks at Cibeles and it takes twice as long.
Ya, pero por la M-30 damos mucha vuelta. ¿Le importaría ir por el centro igualmente?
I see, but the M-30 is a big detour. Would you mind going through the centre anyway?
