Dispute with taxi driver (Advanced): Payment methods

🇯🇵 Many Japanese taxis now take cards and IC cards, but older or independent cabs may still be cash only. Look for payment stickers on the door or window before getting in.

💬 The pattern 〜てある describes something someone put there on purpose that is still in place. ドアに書いてある means "it's written on the door".

🇯🇵 Suica, PASMO, ICOCA and similar rechargeable cards all fall under this label. Many taxis accept them, so they're a handy backup when you're short on cash.

💬 Put any option before はどうですか to suggest it: カードはどうですか "how about a card?". The は is said (wa).

💬 Use 〜でお願いします when handing over money or choosing a method: カードでお願いします "by card, please". The で marks what you're paying with.

💬 百五十円 is said (hyaku gojū en). 円 is (en), not "yen".
